Play online

A game can be played at an online tabletop before it is printed, by playtesters who are not in the room. Play online, under Export & import in the editor, makes a deck of the cards. It is in beta: if a deck comes out wrong at the table, please say so in the feedback form on the projects page.

The Play online (beta) dialog: the cards as sheets of up to 70 cards, and for Tabletop Simulator a saved object that makes them a deck. Host the images on Card-a-mon is ticked, with what that means, and the Export deck button.

Tabletop Simulator

With Host the images on Card-a-mon ticked, Export deck gives one .json file. Put it in Documents/My Games/Tabletop Simulator/Saves/Saved Objects and the deck is under Objects → Saved Objects in the game, its card images served from here, so it loads for everybody at the table straight away. Each card is dealt as many times as it has copies and is named by its id.

Anybody who has the file can download the card images, but nothing else of the project. Export again after changing the cards to update them; Take the deck down, in the same dialog, stops serving them.

Other tabletops

Unticked, you get a zip of card sheets — up to 70 cards on one image, 10 across and 7 down — that other online tabletops take too. Each sheet's file name ends in its grid, across by down: fronts-1-10x7.jpg has 10 cards across and 7 down. Cards with backs of their own have a matching backs- sheet; otherwise back.jpg is the back of every card.

Dustin's Designer Den

Dustin's Designer Den is a site to playtest on: the game's components on a table, rooms your players join by a code, and their feedback. At the bottom of Play online, Connect Dustin's Designer Den signs you in on its own site, and Send to Dustin's Designer Den then puts the cards in a project of yours there, a new one or one you have: each card size a deck, each card as many times as it has copies, cut to its shape and named by its id.

Send again after changing the cards: the cards there are updated rather than added again, and only the images that changed are uploaded. Cards deleted here are taken out there too, with their images. Cards you made there yourself, or sent from another project, are left alone. The images count against your storage at Dustin's Designer Den.
